Face Your Phobias - Deadly Creatures Report

Coffee Beans
Do you like spiders?  Do you like scorpions?  If so, the game this data report is on might be right up your alley.

Deadly Creatures was released on February 9, 2009 with a MSRP of $49.99.  It was developed by Rainbow Studios which was closed in August of this year, and published by THQ. The game puts players in the role of a tarantula for some levels, and the role of a scorpion in other levels.

Deadly Creatures received a "Teen" rating from the ESRB, with "Alcohol Reference, Blood, Mild Language, Violence" listed as content for parents/gamers to be aware of.

How many hours have Wii owners reported facing their arachnophobia in Deadly Creatures? Let's take a look!

How many hours did it take you to finish?

Filtered Thoughts
I remember when Deadly Creatures released, and reading how it was a very unique idea for a game.  As the reviews show, it seems to be a pretty decent game, though the reported average hours "Per person" being less than 6 Hours is interesting.

Deadly Creatures is a Wii game I hope to play one day, as the atmosphere/setting seems very interesting to me, but knowing that the reported hours "Per person" are less than 6 hours I would probably look to rent it, or even look for it at a "bargain bin" price of $10 or less.

If you have arachnophobia, "the fear of spiders and arachnids like scorpions", you may want to skip the video below; but if you want to see what I think is a very unique game idea, watch the video below which shows off two trailers that were made for Deadly Creatures:

  1. I bought the game upon release and i really enjoyed it. i definetely recommend it to other users. I took me about 6 - 7 hours to complete the game and while i really enjoyed it i didn't feel the need to replay it. i don't have arachnophobia.

  2. I bought the game a few months after release. It took me around 6-7 hours to finish and 2 additional ones to find all the collectibles to open new art. It was a nice and different experience, but you are right it is better as a rent or a bargain purchase. I even wrote a review (in spanish) for my website.

  3. I bought it close to release and although I thought I played it twice, my Nintendo Channel data says otherwise. Apparently I only played it once for a couple of hours.

I remember I only made it through a couple of levels and I enjoyed it, but I guess it wasn't enough for me to go back. Maybe one day.

The other thing I remember was the bugs the game had. I once fell through the floor and died and one time I got stuck and had to reset.

I just caught up with your posts from the last two months, happy belated birthday!

  4. I remember when this game first came out - I never did pick it up. I kept meaning to - reviews from players and a few of the 'professional' sites I visited were pretty solid. No fear of those creatures - in fact I've always been fascinated by spiders, scorpions and crabs - something about the way they move around I guess. I used to own about two dozen hermit crabs in a huuuge tank and had a pair of tarantulas once upon a time too. :P

  5. @Filippo Veschi:
Glad to know you don't have arachnophobia, I really wonder if anybody played(or tried to) this game that did have it, and what their experience was with it?

    @flagstaad:
Thanks for the feedback about the collectibles and the art, I didn't recall reading that anywhere, but I'm glad to know the game has some rewards in it for replay value.

HAHA! Bugs in the programming and literal side of things in the game I see.

    Thanks for the bday wish!

Can't say I'm a fan of spiders, though it's not like arachnophobia "get out the oxygen" type of not liking them.
Though, interesting you mentioned hermit crabs, we owned I think two when I was growing up. I'm always tempted when I go to the beaches to buy more, but I have always resisted!

Thank you all for the comments/feedback on the game, and your arachnophobias(or lack thereof)!
