A few weeks ago, on February 3, 2010, I said, "I'm going to make another 'prediction'. My last prediction came true, so I'll see if I can go 2-for-2. I'm going to say, based on the averages we're seeing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex will pass The Conduit's "Total Hours" reported played, on Monday, March 15, 2010, when the data is updated that day."
I continued to say, "The Conduit should be reporting around 1,242,000 "Total Hours". Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex should be reporting around 1,280,000 "Total Hours".
As the image above shows, Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex has now passed The Conduit in "Total Hours" reported played. My "estimates" were under by about 84,000 hours reported for Call of Duty, and 43,000 hours reported for The Conduit.
Take a look at the information and data breakdown for both games.
Release Dates:
The Conduit was released on the Wii on June 23, 2009.
As of Monday(March 15, 2010), it was 266 days since it released, or 38 weeks.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex was released on the Wii on November 10, 2009.
As of Monday(March 15, 2010), it was 126 days since it released, or 18 weeks.
Number of Players Reporting Data:
The Conduit has 58,174 players reporting data on the Nintendo Channel this week.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex has 38,857 players reporting their play-time data.
Player Increase Over Last Week:
The Conduit had 839 more players reporting their data this week.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex had 2,093 more players reporting their data this week over last week.
"Total" Game-Play Hours Reported/Increased:
The Conduit has 1,285,227 Total Hours reported, an increase of 19,951 hours from last week.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex has 1,364,462 Total Hours reported, an increase of 122,819 hours.
"Total" Hours Per Person Reported Played:
The Conduit has 22 hours 6 minutes per person reported played, an increase of 2 minutes over last week.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex has 35 hours 6 minutes per person, an increase of 1 hour 19 minutes over last week.
Amazon.com Sale Ranks:
The Conduit's Amazon.com sale rank is #717 and its current advertised selling price is $21.74 fulfilled by Amazon.com from a third party vendor, or $25.83 directly from Amazon.com.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex's Amazon.com sale rank is #329 and its current advertised selling price is $48.99 from Amazon.com.
GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
The Conduit's review score average is 72.23%, based on 64 reviews.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex's review score average is 78.76%, based on 33 reviews.
Thoughts:
It took Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex approximately 126 days, or 18 weeks, since it released to pass The Conduit's "Total Hours" reported played on the Wii's Nintendo Channel.
The Conduit had 141 days, or 4 months and 18 days, of reporting data, before Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex was released on November 10, 2009.
I think the data clearly shows that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex players are playing the game a lot more than The Conduit is being played, even though there are currently fewer players reporting data for Call of Duty, than there are for The Conduit.
Questions:
If you've played both games, do you think Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex is the better game of the two of them, like the review score average shows? Or do you think The Conduit is the better game?
If you haven't played either of these games, are you interested in buying one or both of these in the near future?
If you're interested in either game, you can see prices for new and used copies from Amazon.com on the pictures below:
more in reflex the the conduit for smoother online and hackers killed game. if reflex had wii speak it would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteCall of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex is way better. Dont get me wrong the conduit is good but Reflex is great. I prefer to Play call of duty modern warfare reflex over conduit anytime. I hope they can see by this that Wii fans enjoy Call of duty reflex on wii and hopefully they will port Modern Warfare 2 someday.
ReplyDeleteMODERN WARFARE is seriously the best Wii shooter out there I fucking love the online and yes,if it had Wii speak it would be PERFECT (except for HD) but the Wii2 WILL have HD so im content too wait for a couple more years lol the conduit is good but not good enough...Im addicted to CODMWR and I play it every day for at least a couple hours just online!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile both are very fun. The conduit has become ruined by hackers. Also finding matches takes way to long on the conduit. That being said, I've put dozens and dozens of hours in on the conduit. While MW is probably better, my recommendation is to try both!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous from March 17, 2010 12:14PM:
ReplyDeleteI actually bought the Animal Crossing: City Folk Wii Speak bundle, when it was on sale last year, just so I could have Wii Speak to play The Conduit with.
I think I played a total of maybe three matches in The Conduit where Wii Speak was of any use.
@Anonymous from March 17, 2010 4:01PM:
I'm almost hoping that perhaps Activision/Treyarch will give Wii owners a nice bundle pack, that would allow Wii owners to be "current" with the COD games, instead of having to wait until 2011 to get COD:MW2 on the Wii.
@nick13b:
You're addiction to CODMWR sounds like how I played CODWAW on the Wii last year.
@Anonymous from March 18, 2010 12:17AM:
I encountered hackers, glitchers, etc., in my time with The Conduit. The most annoying problem for me, was the spawn glitch/bug in the multi-player.
Thank you all for the comments!
I've voiced my opinion on this in the past. The Conduit is good, Modern Warfare is better. I never thought i'd say that considering i'm strongly against military shooters, and I use to worship the ground TCon graced.
ReplyDeleteThe Conduit's multiplayer has just become terrible. Every match is hacked, players often waste the match away hunting for exploitables. That, and the lack of depth (aside from the ranking system) has ruined the game.
Modern Warfare has been hacked, but Treyarch has patched it TWICE. The clean online play combined with the depth of the multiplayer (stats, challenges, perks) just makes for an overall better online experience.
HVS is talking Conduit 2, I advise they step it up in a major way. Let's see some multiplayer stats, some online achievements, online unlockables. Most importantly, show some extra support in clearing out the hacker crowd. Give us reasons to keep coming back to play your game online.
I had a borrowed copy of World at War on the Wii for about 9 months and ended up playing about 45 hours worth of the game, 30 of which was online. Honestly, my first impressions of MWR were that it couldn't possibly be good considering how Activision seemed to go to legths ignoring it's existance. Also, I still bristle at the idea that they are charging Wii owners $50 for a game that is two years old.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, seeing how this spring ended up with NMH2, RS2, SMG2 and Other M I realized getting MWR was a waste of time. Instead, I am considering adding the next Treyarch edition to my must get list for the end of the year, but it might come down to a choice between COD or NHL2K11.
Here are my thoughts on The Conduit, at the current prices you can find it online (less than $20) I would suggest people go and find it for the single player mode. It is a pretty good old school shooter for that price.
ReplyDeleteThe online was crap, I had bugs from the beginning, it seemed like there were a lot of Hacks in the first month even and in general I liked the WAW style tactical military team deathmatch opposed to the run and gun style of The Conduit MP. Also, I didn't like how weapon choices were dictated to you, no unlockable weapons and no customization in MP classes.
@James: FYN
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing HVS will have it where The Conduit 2 can be patched, especially since the online in The Conduit is what I think stopped the game from selling more than it did.
@delawaregamer:
I did own The Conduit, and played through the single-player campaign four complete times and several of the levels 4+ times.
I think the last two levels were really well done. I also enjoyed the random radios around the levels and the "hidden" messages throughout the game.
I was hoping to have gotten COD:MWR around Christmas with extra money, but I ended up using it for the recording equipment for videos.
I'm like you now, probably just waiting on the next COD game from Treyarch later this year.
Thank you both for the comments!
I haven't played Reflex yet. I've played through CoD4 3 times on PC and twice on 360 so I haven't picked it up for Wii. I was hooked to World at War for both the story and the online play. I thought it was by far the best online experience for Wii, but I can't compare it to Modern Warfare.
ReplyDeleteI did play the Conduit. I enjoyed the single player and when you could get into an online match it was solid. Wii Speak was hit or miss and it would be better if you could have a headset, but it works. If you can find Conduit cheap I would suggest picking it up. It's a generic sci-fi shooter, but it's a decent experience. I would just suggest moving the grenades off of the nunchuk or you'll spend many times respawning in elevators after accidently grenading yourself to death.
@Tony Miller:
ReplyDeleteFrom the comments above, and other comments I've read, it seems that COD:MWR is the best FPS with online play, currently on the Wii.
I'm glad The Conduit was released and the "standard" it seems to have created with fully customizable controls in Wii FPS games.
I do agree about Wii Speak being "hit or miss", and it seems that very few of The Conduit owners actually used/owned Wii Speak when I was playing.
Thanks for the comments!

ReplyDeleteThis is what really frustrates me about the attitude of Nintendo because WiiSpeak clearly sucks. It was designed for Animal Crossing and has received almost no 1st party support since then. How hard would it be to create a new WiiSpeak channel that would allow you to sync up any Bluetooth headset, you know a kind of WiiSpeak emulator of sorts. I think most hardcore Wii players would pay $10 for that ability.
Also, they could provide a DVD Player channel that provides all the needed codecs and licenses to play DVD's on Wii. The idea on both fronts was to save money and keep the system cheap, I get that but if you can just as easily offer these services as a download for a fee, why the heck not.
All this goes into the notion that the if there is no WiiHD/Wii2 coming soon, Nintendo needs to do a full refresh of the system OS improving the online system with a persistent online, improved capabilities using the hardware tools it has and offering better MP capabilities. This should have come out alreay in anticipation of MH3.
@delawaregamer:
ReplyDeleteI'm very surprised Nintendo hasn't released a DVD Player channel and charged for it.
I think they have to pay royalties if that feature is used though, but again, if they charged $5 or $10 for it, I don't know how they wouldn't make a profit even after paying royalties(not really sure how that works).
As for WiiSpeak, I think it was Nintendo simply trying to reinvent the wheel(headset) for casuals. Instead of simply releasing a headset, which has proven itself as a great way for playing games and communicating, they wanted some more "Wii-ish", or family oriented, device I guess so multiple users could use it at once.
It took them nearly 2 years to release any type of voice chat on the Wii, and it just didn't make any sense to me.
Reflex for life!!!!! The conduit has had its lime light time reflex is the shooter that will dethrone the conduit as the best fps
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe IGN gave this game a seven come on Bozone you fag at least give it an eight it`s a ten out of ten for me screw the conduit it can suck my balls for all i care (Sorry for crappy spelling)
ReplyDelete@Anonymous from March 31, 2010 9:52PM:
ReplyDeleteBeing that CODMWR has passed The Conduit, what do you think of the announcement for The Conduit 2?
@Anonymous from March 31, 2010 9:57PM:
I agree with the you IGN and Bozon only giving CODMWR a 7/10.
From everybody that I know, that has played both The Conduit and Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex, they say CODMWR is the better game.
Thanks for the comments!
