The Conduit has 55,535 players reporting data on the Nintendo Channel.
Metroid Prime Trilogy has 33,960 players reporting data.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 32,466 players reporting their data.

Player Increase Over Last Week:
The Conduit had 907 more players reporting data this week.
Metroid Prime Trilogy had 1,048 more players reporting data this week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex had 2,434 more players reporting data this week.

The Conduit had 1,221,431 Total Hours reported, an increase of 22,783 hours from last week.
Metroid Prime Trilogy had 813,304 Total Hours reported this week, an increase of 33,985 hours.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex had 1,012,692 Total Hours reported, an increase of 117,500 hours.

Amazon.com Sales Rank:
The Conduit's Amazon.com sale rank is #699  and its current selling price is $17.75.
Metroid Prime Trilogy's Amazon.com sale rank is #675 and its current selling price is $60.00.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex's Amazon.com sale rank is #239 and its current selling price is $46.99.

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
The Conduit and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex both saw an increase in the number of reviews in their average from last week.
The Conduit was at 72.06% based on 63 reviews last week.
This week The Conduit is at 72.23%  based on 64 reviews this week.  So the new review added helped to increase its review score average.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy is at 92.27% based on 33 reviews.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex was at 78.94% based on 31 reviews last week.
This week it's at 78.76% based on 33 reviews.  It saw a decrease to its overall review score average with the two new scores.

Thoughts:
Metroid Prime: Trilogy will be shown every now and then, but being that Nintendo isn't publishing/shipping it anymore, I won't track it every week in the FPS category for 2009.
As I said three weeks ago, I think that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex will pass The Conduit's "Total Hours" reported played, on Monday, March 15, 2010.

If you're interested in any of these games, you can see new/used prices on Amazon.com below:

Question:
What do you think about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex having the highest "Per person" play-time average out of these three games?
I think the hours "per person" shows that the game's online is drawing people into it, just like Call of Duty: World at War's online drew me to play that game a lot.  I'm just surprised how quickly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has passed the other two games in the hours "Per person" reported.

Dead Space: Extraction's review score average is 83.75% based on 59 reviews.
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles' review score average is 74.54% based on 40 reviews.

Thoughts:
You may have noticed, this week I've rearranged a bit.  I'll be tracking the "rail" shooters from 2009 that were released on the Wii in 2009, together in one group, and I'll track the "FPS" shooters on their own.

I do find it interesting that Dead Space: Extraction has the highest review score average and the highest number of reviews, but it has the lowest sales rank currently on Amazon.com and the lowest "total hours" reported.  I wonder if perhaps it's because Dead Space: Extraction was a first time for the franchise on the Wii and it didn't have enough advertising?
I don't know how much advertising House of the Dead: Overkill and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles had compared to Dead Space: Extraction, or even each other.

Questions:
Have you played any of these games?  If so, what do you think of them from what you played?
If you've played all three of them, do you agree with the review score averages, that Dead Space: Extraction is the best "rail" shooter out of these three?

If you're interested in any of these games, you can see the best new/used prices available on Amazon.com below:

Notes: Number of players reporting data is rounded down to the nearest whole number. Prices on Amazon.com may be reflecting the lowest third party price, not Amazon.com's price directly.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game, Video Gaming with My Wife

About 3 weeks ago, I rented Ghostbusters: The Video Game for the Wii.
I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of game-play.  I knew the game had a two player option, so I thought maybe my wife would play the game with me.

I thought the two player option, in the game, was like Call of Duty: World at War's two player campaign on the Wii, where one person controls the main character on screen, the second player just has an on-screen reticule they control and they don't have to be concerned with moving a character around.

Well, I put the game in and turned on the system.  After a brief "tutorial" of sorts inside the Ghostbusters' firehouse, I went to the Ecto-1 to start my first mission.  When starting the mission, the game menu will ask if you are playing one player or two player, we selected two players.
I didn't realize the two player option in Ghostbusters on the Wii was actually splitscreen through all the campaign's missions!
She picked up an extra Nunchuck and added it to the Wii remote she was using.

Here's a video of us fighting probably the most famous character from the Ghostbusters movies and television show, the Stay Puft!

In the video, my wife was playing as the female ghostbuster on the bottom screen, I was the male ghostbuster in the top screen.  When we were in the final battle with Stay Puft, my wife was still the female ghostbuster, and she stayed on the right side of the screen for most of the battle, we switched sides towards the end.

One question you may have heard my wife ask was, "So, why is it a ghost in marshmallow form?"
I replied, "I don't know."
If you want to know more about the Stay Puft man, if you don't know a lot, a brief read about him is:

You may have noticed the audio in the game was extremely low when characters were saying different lines.  My wife actually can be heard in the video asking me, "Do you know what he's saying?", around 1:25 in the video.
I should note, that in the video I had the direct feed audio from the game running, as well as the audio recording the tv sound and our conversation during game-play, that's why there was a slight echo to some of the audio sounds.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game has audio settings in the game, and if you play it, they are defaulted to level 50.  I highly encourage you to turn the voice audio setting up to 100, if you want to be able to hear/understand what the characters are saying easier.

As for the question at the end of the video, "Did they finish the game together?", we did not.
My wife had trouble getting used to the controls, so she didn't play anymore.  The video of us defeating Stay Puft was the last level we played together.

I, though, did complete the game.
I started a brand new game from the beginning, and played all the levels by myself.  It took me a little more than 9 hours to complete the game, and I had fun playing it.  I was impressed with the engine Red Fly Studio used in the game, because of the amount of destructible objects in the levels.
I didn't complete the game with 100% of items that can be found and scanned, but I did see the credits which were fun.  The credits even have a little interactive activity of ghost catching to do, while they are rolling.

If you have any questions about the Wii version, feel free to ask me in the comments or by sending an email my way.  I'll be glad to answer them if I can.

Questions:
Have you played any version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game?  If so, which version did you play, and what did you think of it?  Good or bad?

Do you think Stay Puft is the most popular "ghost" in Ghostbusters' history?

If you're interested in Ghostbusters: The Video Game, it's available on the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 as for the current generation consoles.  It's also available on the PC, Nintendo DS, and PS2.

2009 Nintendo Wii Games: New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports Resort: Data, Sales, Review Scores

Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii  Nintendo Channel data, Amazon.com Sales Ranks, GameRankings.com Review Score Averages
(click photo to enlarge)

Number of Players Reporting Data:
Wii Sports Resort has 319,345 players reporting data on the Nintendo Channel.
Wii Fit Plus has 144,316 players reporting data on the Nintendo Channel.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii has 296,162 players reporting their data on the Nintendo Channel.

Player Increase:
Wii Sports Resort had an increase of 12,317 players reporting play-time data this week.
Wii Fit Plus had an increase of 8,468 players reporting play-time data this week, than last week.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii increased by 20,321 players reporting play-time this week on the Nintendo Channel.

"Total" Game-Play Hours Reported/Increased:
Wii Sports Resort had 6,469,680 "Total" game-play hours reported, an increase of 347,613 hours from last week.
Wii Fit Plus had 1,894,086 "Total" game-play hours reported, an increase of 177,018 hours.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii had 6,315,022 "Total" game-play hours reported, an increase of 690,331 on the Wii's Nintendo Channel data.

Amazon.com Sales Rank:
Wii Sports Resort's Amazon.com sale rank is #12 and the current selling price is $46.99.
Wii Fit Plus' Amazon.com sale rank is #22 for the game with Wii Balance Board and #19 for the software only.  The lowest listed selling price for a new copy of Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board is $174.90, and the selling price for just the software is $19.00.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii's Amazon.com sale rank is #9 and the current selling price is $48.99.

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
The review score averages have stayed the same as last week.
Wii Sports Resort's average remains at 82.78%.
Wii Fit Plus' average remains at 81.32%.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii's average remains at 87.95%.

Thoughts/Questions:
Seven weeks and counting now, Amazon.com is still out-of-stock of Wii Fit Plus with the Wii Balance Board.  Currently, the starting price shown for a new copy of Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board is $174.90.  Some asking prices are over $200 for it.

Last week I "predicted" that New Super Mario Bros. Wii will pass Wii Sports Resort's "Total" game-play hours reported on May 1, 2010.  I said I think both games will be reporting right around 6,800,000, with New Super Mario Bros. Wii "...slightly ahead of Wii Sports Resort."
Well, my prediction for May 1st, almost came true this week!  I think New Super Mario Bros. Wii will probably pass 7,000,000 "Total" hours reported next week.

Why do you think Wii Fit Plus is still sold out?  Do you think it's simply because of production issues with the Wii Balance Board?

Video Game Friendly Politician Won 2010 CPAC Poll!

Earlier this week, FoxNews.com reported that the Conservative Political Action Conference was going to use video games, "...to attract and entertain..." college-aged contingents.
Kevin McCullough told FoxNews.com, "We're gonna have the most popular games.  There'll be Guitar Hero.  There'll be Dance Revolution.  There'll be Call of Duty."

For those of you wondering what CPAC is, via CPAC.org, "...the Conservative Political Action Conference is the nation's largest gathering of conservatives annually.  It is a project of ACUF and its largest annual conference."

I found it interesting that the CPAC was using video games to attract the college-aged voters.

Each year at the CPAC, they have a straw poll for attendees.
One question in particular this year read:
"Thinking ahead to the 2012 Presidential election, who would you vote for as the next Republican nominee for President?"

Which candidate did the attendees select for the 2012 Republican nominee?
The results read, "TX Congressman Ron Paul".  He won first place with 31% of the votes.

Who is Ron Paul?
(this guy!)

I found it even more interesting Saturday night when a friend called to let me know Rep. Ron Paul won the CPAC poll.  Rep. Paul was interviewed on G4TV during the 2008 presidential election process.  He seems to think the video game industry, as well as others, are better off managing themselves, without the federal government regulating it.

When Ron Paul was interviewed on G4TV during the 2008 presidential election cycle, on June 27, 2007, the G4TV host asked, "...I'm wondering what role that you think the government should play when it comes to policing television, or movies, music, even video games?"(emphasis added)

Rep. Ron Paul responded, "Well, I would go to the Constitution.  I would go to the First Amendment and it reminds us that Congress shall write no law.  And I think if the Congress shall write no law regarding the freedom of speech and expression, the courts shouldn't do it either.  It should not be in the realm of Washington(D.C.) politics to regulate any form of expression, whether it's in books, or whether it's radio or television, or on the internet."

The host played "devil's advocate" jokingly, and then said how many people use the, "What about the children", type of lines when it comes to justifying government regulation.
Rep. Ron Paul replied, "Well then I would suggest to them, the responsibility falls on the parents, and on individuals.  If the individual is old enough, they can pick and choose what they want to look at, but children should be the responsibility of parents."

I'm glad to see a politician, that prefers the government keeping its nose out of the video game industry(and others), win something like this.  Maybe there are thinking politicians in Washington D.C.!

Question:
Did you know who Rep. Ron Paul was before this?  What do you think of his answers to the questions?  Agree or disagree?
I wonder, was there a connection between Rep. Ron Paul being on G4TV and the CPAC using video games to attract younger voters, as the reason Rep. Ron Paul won the straw poll this year?

If you want to know more about Rep. Ron Paul, you can visit http://www.house.gov/paul/bio.shtml for a brief bio.
If you're wondering who else was in the poll, Rep. Ron Paul beat out other politicians like former MA Gov. Mitt Romney, former AK Gov. Sarah Palin, and former AR Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Gladiator A.D. vs. Tournament of Legends Screenshot Comparisons

On May 25, 2009, High-Voltage Software announced they were working on Gladiator A.D., a game exclusively for the Wii.

On February 3, 2010, it was announced that Gladiator A.D. wasn't the same anymore, it is now Tournament of Legends.  I wasn't initially sure if Tournament of Legends was the same as Gladiator A.D., because of the character models and there was more color in the screenshots.  It has been confirmed though, Gladiator A.D. has been changed to Tournament of Legends.

High Voltage Software and Sega still haven't released any video footage of Tournament of Legends, but I noticed a few things about Tournament of Legends from the few screenshots they have released.

It appears they are using some of the same levels from Gladiator A.D. in Tournament of Legends.  The level names below are how they appeared in Gladiator A.D.  I'm listing some differences I've noticed between each games' levels, and including the screenshots as well.
      1) Grand Colosseum:
           a) It now looks like the fighters will fight surrounded by a pit of some sort.  I can't tell if the pit opens and closes as an interactive part of the arena or not.  Previously, in Gladiator A.D. pictures and videos, the only "pits" were what looked like pits where lions would possibly come from.
           b) Also in Tournament of Legends' photos, it looks like there are arrows in the ground and what I think appears to be some sort of tentacles randomly around the level.
           c) The flags around the Colosseum in ToL are noticeably more colorful than they were in Gladiator A.D.  Tournament of Legends is a more colorful game in general now.
           d) The spiked columns around the Colosseum in Tournament of Legends appear to have some sort of a fire/flame coming off the top of them, whereas in Gladiator A.D., I didn't spot that effect.  The spiked columns in ToL also appear to have a lime-green neon glow on them in certain areas, this was not present on the spiked columns in Gladiator A.D.
           e) Tournament of Legends is lacking crowds in the Colosseum, whereas Gladiator A.D. had crowds of people scattered around the Colosseum cheering/booing depending on what was happening.
           f) The arena floor in ToL looks like it's had some astrological symbols added to it(I don't know anything about this stuff, it could just be random symbols!)
      2) Gardens:
           a) Tournament of Legends' level takes place at night, Gladiator A.D.'s level took place at dusk.
           b) Gladiator A.D.'s level had water in the middle arena area, and the fighters were standing in the water the entire fight.  In the Tournament of Legends picture, it doesn't look like the fighters will be fighting while standing in the water.  The middle arena in Tournament of Legends does appear as it's been raised slightly.  I'm wondering if the environments are more interactive in Tournament of Legends and perhaps there's a switch or something to cause the water to rise during the middle of the fight?
           c) The plants and vines around the Gardens' arena are noticeably greener in ToL, and the water is noticeably more blue in ToL.  ToL retained the cascading water streams on the outside of the arena that Gladiator A.D. had originally, which I like.
           d) Same as the Grand Colosseum, ToL's level for the Gardens doesn't have any audience/crowd standing around the arena watching the fight.

Here are some screenshots from both versions the game.  Click the images below to enlarge them for seeing the details better!  Descriptions of the images are beneath each them:

In these pictures above, the level shown was known as the Grand Colosseum in Gladiator A.D.  You can see the Gladiator A.D. image on the left, and Tournament of Legends on the right.  If you click the image to enlarge it, you can notice the fire(?) effect on the top of the spiked columns in the Tournament of Legends photo(photo on right).  If you look at the decorative banner, near the top right corner of Gladiator A.D.'s picture, then look at in the Tournament of Legends picture, you will notice more color and the symbol has changed on it from Gladiator A.D. to Tournament of Legends.

In this image, the level shown was known as the Gardens in Gladiator A.D., I'm not sure if the level name has changed for Tournament of Legends.  In the Gladiator A.D. image on the far left, you can see what appears to be the sun setting(rising?) in the level.  In the Tournament of Legends image on the right, you can notice the moon(?) in the background and also how the plants on the pedestals are greener than they appear in the older Gladiator A.D. images on the left.  Also, the crowd is lacking from the Tournament of Legends image, but present in the Gladiator A.D. images.

In these images, look at the spiked columns in Gladiator A.D., then look at the spiked columns in Tournament of Legends.  The spiked columns in Tournament of Legends appear as though they have sort of neon lime-green lighting on them?  Also, these images show how the HUD(head-up display) differs from the version then and now.  In Gladiator A.D., all the meters were at the top.  Now in Tournament of Legends, there is a meter at the bottom of the screen.  I wonder if the HUD will be customizable in the game, like it was in The Conduit.

Thoughts:
I was really impressed with what I saw coming from Gladiator A.D. and what it seemed that High Voltage was trying to achieve with it.
I'm not as impressed with what I've seen from Tournament of Legends(although it's only been screenshots).

A few things I was impressed about in Gladiator A.D., that I wish Tournament of Legends kept:
1)  Crowds:
I liked how HVS was trying to allow the player to win favor with the crowds in Gladiator A.D., and after winning the crowds favor, the player could, "...challenge the champions for fame, wealth, and in some cases, freedom...".
2)  Wii MotionPlus(WM+):
Eric Nofsinger(HVS) told Matt Casamassina of IGN.com, "The Wii MotionPlus will be used to add variance to the attacks to break up what could possibly be seen as mechanical attacks.  For example, depending on the orientation of the player's wrist when a left slice is initiated, the gladiator will attack his opponents right side from one of three angles, making it slightly more difficult to perfect block...".  I thought this would make Gladiator A.D. a very strategic fighting game when WM+ was used, and I thought that would help set it apart.  It's been confirmed that Tournament of Legends will not use WM+.

Questions:
If you've known about Tournament of Legends, when it was known as Gladiator A.D., what do you think of the changes to the game?  Are you more excited about Tournament of Legends new style, or did you prefer the style of Gladiator A.D.?  Is there anything you wish Tournament of Legends had kept from the original version of Gladiator A.D.?
Tournament of Legends is releasing on the Wii on May 18, 2010, do you plan on buying the game from what you've seen of it, and what you know about it?
I'd love to know what you think, good or bad!

Also, I'm debating on using a "Jump Break" for some posts, this was one of them.  Do you prefer the posts to appear entirely on the main page, like they have been, or would you prefer a "Jump Break" for the longer posts?

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles's Amazon.com sale rank is #849 and its selling price is $46.99.

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
The only game that saw a change in its GameRankings.com review score average, from last week, was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex.
It had one review added to its total number and that review helped increase the game's overall average.
Last week Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex was sitting at a 78.53% average with 30 reviews, this week its review score average increased to 78.94% with 31 reviews.
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles average is 74.54% based on 40 reviews.
House of the Dead: Overkill's average is 80.78% based on 54 reviews.
The Conduit's average is 72.06% based on 63 reviews.

Thoughts:
As I said two weeks ago, I think that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex will pass The Conduit's "Total Hours" reported played, on Monday, March 15, 2010, when the data is updated.
The Conduit should be reporting around 1,242,000 "Total Hours".
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex should be reporting around 1,280,000 "Total Hours".

If you're interested in any of these games, you can see the best used and new price of the games on Amazon.com on the pictures below:

Questions:
Why do you think Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles has the lowest sales rank on Amazon.com out of these four games, but it is the newest released game of them all?  Do you think it's because of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicle's price?

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
The GameRankings.com review score average have stayed the same as last week, for all the games.
Wii Sports Resort's average review score is 82.78%.
Wii Fit Plus' average review score is 81.32%.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii's average review score is 87.95%.

Thoughts/Questions:
Six weeks and counting, Amazon.com is still out-of-stock of Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board.  Currently, the starting price for Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board is $152.99 new!
Again, that price is from 2nd/3rd party vendors on Amazon.com.

I'm guessing the Wii Balance Board is proving harder to manufacture than Nintendo anticipated.  Again, Nintendo seems to have problems with keeping up manufacturing of not only hardware pieces like the Wii and Wii Balance Board, but also of just software like New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

I understand they may have played it conservatively with initial Wii production, but seriously, they need to get the production problems resolved.  I'm glad to know their products are selling extremely well, and they seem to be quality products, but six weeks and counting for a major site like Amazon.com to be out of stock of a product, is crazy!

As for the game-play times, I think New Super Mario Bros. Wii will pass Wii Sports Resort on May 1, 2010, when the data is updated that day.  I think both games will be reporting right around 6,800,000 "Total Hours" played, with New Super Mario Bros. Wii slightly ahead of Wii Sports Resort.

If you're a stock investor, or a potential stock investor, would you be looking at buying, selling, or holding Nintendo stock at it's current price with what you're seeing from the company?

If you're interested in purchasing any of the games mentioned above, you can see what they're selling for on Amazon.com right below!

Nintendo Channel data captured on Monday, February 15, 2010.  Numbers of players reporting data are rounded down to the nearest whole number.  If you click the links for the games, Amazon.com may direct you to a 2nd/3rd Party Vendor that has the game in-stock.
